The National Schools Inspectorate Authority (NaSIA) has held a series of stakeholder engagement in Wa (Upper West Region) and Bolgatanga (Upper East Region) to deliberate on key issues affecting education delivery in Ghana.
The discussions focused on licensing and inspections, school funding, teacher training, and the role of private schools in complementing government efforts. Stakeholders raised concerns about the use of unapproved textbooks, teacher deviation from the official curriculum through AI and internet downloads, misuse of tablets by students, and inadequate infrastructure in some schools.
The engagements also emphasized stronger collaboration between NaSIA, GES, WAEC, NTC, and other agencies to ensure consistency in curriculum delivery, improve teacher professional development, and provide equitable support for both public and private schools.
Speaking at the sessions, Prof. Azeko Salifu Tahiru, the Inspector-General of Schools, reaffirmed NaSIA’s commitment to external quality assurance while calling for collective responsibility in ensuring that every child in Ghana has access to quality education.
