Only Part A of the IEF is utilized in school performance inspections to assess a school's performance. It concentrates on three sub-elements: lesson observation, school leadership, and external assessment results. The School Leadership sub-element comprises six indications. Within the Lesson Observation sub-element, there are seven indicators and twenty sub-indicators assessing quality in learner outcomes and teaching. The External Assessment Results (EAR) sub-element encompasses three indicators: the English Language, Mathematics, and Science scores from the previous three years' Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) of pre-tertiary schools.
