Dr. Haggar Hilda Ampadu is the Executive Director and Inspector-General of Schools of the National Schools Inspectorate Authority (NaSIA), Ministry of Education, formerly the National Inspectorate Board (NIB).

Education


Dr. Haggar Hilda Ampadu is the Executive Director and Inspector-General of Schools of the National Schools Inspectorate Authority (NaSIA), Ministry of Education, formerly the National Inspectorate Board (NIB). Prior to joining NaSIA, Dr. Hilda was the Acting Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Pharmacovigilance, Accra, Ghana (WHO-CC). In her role at WHO-CC, she was responsible for Institutional Capacity Building in Pharmacovigilance Policy for National Pharmacovigilance Centres, Ministries of Health across 46 countries in Africa with direct intervention in 35.

She holds a Doctor of Philosophy Degree (PhD) in Regulatory Policy & Pharmacoepidemiology from the Utrecht University in the Netherlands. Her research focused on Regulation Policy and Pharmacoepidemiology for Medicine Safety in Africa. Dr. Ampadu also holds a Master’s Degree in Management (Project Management) from Boston University, Boston Massachusetts, USA.  She holds a Bachelors Degree in Biological Sciences from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi. She attended Wesley Girls High School, Cape Coast.


Career


Dr. Hilda has worked in the United States Biotech/Pharmaceutical/Medical Device industry for 12 plus years mainly in the areas of Data Operations. She is a Council member of the Ghana Health Service-Ministry of Health, the Accra Technical University, and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ministry of Education.

Dr. Hilda is an academic who is passionate about building sustainable systems and system strengthening in the public sector.  At NaSIA, she is leading the development of key policies to guide the regulation and licensing of all public and private Pre-Tertiary Educational Institutions in Ghana. She is enthusiastic about nurturing young talent. She is married with two children.


Experience


Dr. Ampadu worked in the United States Biotech/Pharmaceutical/Medical Device industry for 12 plus years mainly in the areas of Regulatory Compliance, Monitoring and Evaluation, Data Management and Data Analysis.

She is an Academic and currently supervises Masters of Public Health students mainly in the areas of Pharmaceutical research at the University of Ghana School of Public Health, Department of Disease Surveillance.

She has published 7 scientific papers in 5 peer reviewed journals.
